Four Moons: Only Restaurant in the SC Midlands to Receive AAA Four Diamond Award

December 16, 2009

ORANGEBURG, SC – December 14, 2009 – Four Moons, an award winning fine dining restaurant in Orangeburg, South Carolina, proudly announces it is the receipt of the coveted Mobile AAA Four Diamond Award. Four Moons is the only restaurant in the South Carolina Midlands to receive this prestigious award and is one of 16 restaurants in the state to receive the honor. The restaurant also holds a 2009 Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence, 2008 Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, and 2008 Award of Unique Distinction by Wine Enthusiast magazine. In April 2009, the restaurant was named the Best Overall Restaurant in SC by OpenTable Diners’ Choice list.

According to AAA rating guidelines, a Four Diamond restaurant is one that creates a distinctive fine dining experience where the menus “reflect a high degree of creativity and complexity, using imaginative presentations to enhance high quality, market-fresh ingredients.” The staff must demonstrate menu-specific knowledge and experience in regard to wine pairing and selection. The ambiance of the establishment is also considered and must embody an upscale design and use of well-coordinated materials.

“It’s an honor to have a Four Diamond restaurant right here in the Midlands. Before Four Moons, diners in the Midlands would have to drive to Charleston, Hilton Head, or Myrtle Beach to experience fine dining at a Four Diamond restaurant,” said Michael Tourville, managing partner.

The Four Diamond Award was presented to Tourville and his team on December 7, 2009 at the Planters Inn in Charleston, South Carolina. Following a cocktail reception, David Parsons, the President and CEO of AAA Carolinas, gave a brief speech and the awards were presented by Tom Crosby, the Vice President of Communications for AAA.

AAA’s Diamond Rating is the only system that covers all of North America and one of only two rating systems that does actual, on-site evaluations. In 2009, Four Diamond restaurants accounted for only 2.8 percent of the 27,000 AAA Rated restaurants.

“Orangeburg is definitely an unexpected place to encounter fine dining. However, Four Moons will make a believer out of you as we rival other fine dining restaurants in Charleston, New York, and Las Vegas; and we keep our prices affordable without taking shortcuts on quality,” said Tourville.

Four Moons is designed as a place where diners can be “transported” from their daily routine and thrust into a world filled with opulence, subtle sophistication, and amazing cuisine. The cuisine is anything but stuffy and though the menu offerings can satisfy the most discriminating foodie, those with a more traditional palate can take comfort in classic dishes. Void of conventional artwork, the restaurant itself is truly a work of art! From the illuminated waterwall and cobalt blue blown glass sculpture to the floating ceiling and chainmail privacy curtains, the architectural nature and innovative décor of the dining room make for a masterpiece!
