Free Concert Series (for your smartphone, computer)

April 20, 2016

The Upstate of South Carolina has a new free concert series called “The Downtown Jam™” focused on local singer-songwriters in the Upstate, but you won’t need a ticket to enjoy the show.  “The Downtown Jam™” is a part of a podcast called “Stories Of The Upstate™” and is available directly on GreatUpstate.com or you can subscribe on both iTunes or Stitcher.

Each month between 3 and 6 local singer-songwriters sneak into a secret downtown Greenville location and play an entire concert:  Their original songs, stories and a jam for you.  However, there is no audience.  It’s all recorded for a special audience of the podcast “Stories Of The Upstate™” and given away free each month.

New concerts appear the second Wednesday of each month and subscribers (the podcast is a free subscription) can go back and listen to past concerts as often as they like because once concerts launch they stay in the archive “on-demand” for subscribers long-term.

“Our podcast is a biography-based interview show that focuses on wisdom,” says show host Loyd Ford.  “But we found that the Upstate has a big local music scene and a lot of artists who are earning their living off of playing music locally, regionally and some both nationally and even internationally.  We wanted to highlight that.  The best part is that you don’t have to be in the Upstate to enjoy our music scene, but you’ll be encouraged to visit when you hear what’s happening here.”

“The Downtown Jam™” has become popular enough to launch an Upstate South Carolina Farmer’s Market Tour, including stops in Greer, Spartanburg, Simpsonville, Taylors and Travelers Rest beginning on April 28th.

In addition to the once a month free concerts, “Stories Of The Upstate™” also launches individual free bonus songs from local artists once a month as a special thank you for music lovers who subscribe to the podcast.  “The Downtown Jam™” even appears once a month on “Your Carolina” on WSPA-TV for an interview and performance.  The next appearance of “The Jam” on WSPA-TV is set for Tuesday, May 10th @ 10 a.m.
