January 28, 2016

COLUMBIA, SC – It’s tax time and everyone could use a break. Richland Two’s W.R. Rogers Adult, Continuing & Technology Education Center has some good news for taxpayers. The W.R. Rogers Center is partnering with SC Thrive to offer free tax help. No filing fees will be charged to prepare and file state and federal taxes. Anyone making $65,000 or less is eligible. If married filing jointly, your adjusted gross income must be $95,000 or less. Eligible clients can claim the Earned Income Tax Credit and can also apply for other work supports such as health care coverage, home energy assistance, child care subsidies and food assistance.

The free service will be offered, Tuesday, Feb. 9 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the W.R. Rogers Center located at 750 Old Clemson Road. Space is limited and an appointment is necessary. Call 803.736.8787 to schedule an appointment.

W.R. Rogers Center principal Bobby Cunningham says this program helps people file their taxes early and properly at no cost to them.

“I really hope our community members take advantage of this help. We would not want folks who qualify to have to pay to get their taxes prepared and then have to pay the government too,” said Cunningham.

SC Thrive is a nonprofit organization that also works with The Benefit Bank of South Carolina to offer no-cost income tax filing. For more information call 803.736.8787.
