Free Pet Vaccine Clinic helps 100 families

September 28, 2015

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – 30 Staff and Volunteers from Charleston Animal Society held a Vaccine Clinic in North Charleston Saturday, helping pets in the Dorchester Waylyn neighborhood.  Pets in this area are at-risk, because there are virtually no veterinarian services nearby for residents.   “Today’s turnout highlights how important low-cost, high-quality veterinary care is for all residents of South Carolina,” said Charleston Animal Society Director or Anti-Cruelty and Outreach Aldwin Roman.

By the Numbers:

100 families came to the vaccine clinic.

176 animals were treated.

300 vaccines were provided to animals.

This service is part of Charleston Animal Society’s “Pets for Life” program that has helped hundreds of pet owners in at-risk communities around Charleston County.  “Pets for Life” is made possible through a grant from the Humane Services of the United States.  “This is the future of pet care,” said Roman, “we are being pro-active and giving these animals in at-risk communities the preventative care they need to stay out of the shelter.”
