Friends of the Reedy River Team Up with Area Scouts for River Cleanup Effort

GREENVILLE, SC – March 22, 2012 – Friends of the Reedy River and Greenville area scout troops are hosting a cleanup effort for the Reedy River and its surroundings right in the heart of Greenville. There will be several cleanup locations providing unique opportunities for volunteers of all ages and experience.

Saturday, March 24, 2012
9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
12 p.m. – Commemorative cleanup patches will be awarded at Cleveland Park shelters #29 and #30
 
Shotgun start at the following locations:

  • Falls Park, downtown Greenville
  • YMCA Caine Halter, 723 Cleveland St.
  • Salvation Army Kroc branch, 424 Westfield St.
  • Conestee Nature Park, 601 Fork Shoals Rd.

The volunteer effort will include river cleanup, Kudzu cutting, trash, mud and more!  Participating scouts will also earn points towards the Conservation badge and will receive a special River Cleanup patch.  More information on the mission of Friends of the Reedy River can be found at www.friendsofthereedyriver.org.
