Furman University to Begin Classes August 26

GREENVILLE, SC – August 23, 2009 – Furman University’s 2009-10 academic year will officially get underway Wednesday, Aug. 26 when students attend their first day of classes.

The 700 freshmen who reported to campus Friday, Aug. 21, will take part in orientation activities Aug. 22-25.  The rest of the university’s 2,600 students will begin arriving on Sunday, Aug. 23.

 Furman will hold its opening convocation Thursday, Sept. 3 at 10 a.m. in McAlister Auditorium.

 The fall term ends Dec. 8, while spring term begins Jan. 11 and ends April 27.  Commencement will be held Saturday, May 8.  The optional May term will run May 10-28.
