Furman University To Hold Commencement May 7

Graduating senior Elizabeth Trenary will serve as speaker

GREENVILLE, SC – May 3, 2011 – Furman University will award approximately 615 undergraduate and graduate degrees when the school holds its commencement exercises Saturday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Paladin Stadium.

The public is invited to attend.

In case of rain, the ceremony will be moved to Timmons Arena and admittance will be by ticket only.  The exercises will be broadcast live via streaming video on the Furman website (www.furman.edu).

The commencement speaker will be graduating senior Elizabeth Trenary of Raleigh, N.C.  A political science and history major, she was selected for the honor by the John H. Crabtree Student Commencement Speaker Selection Committee.

Trenary is a member of Senior Order, Phi Alpha Theta Historical Honors Society, Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honors Society and Delta Gamma sorority.  She is also a member of Religious Council and currently serves as president of Phi Eta Sigma.  A Dean’s List student at Furman, she is a Senior Class Agent, Admission Ambassador and a member of the Prelaw Society.  She was an APEC Voices of the Future Delegate for a 2010 conference in Japan.

A 2007 graduate of North Raleigh Christian Academy, she is the daughter of Lance and Paulette Trenary of Raleigh.
