Furman’s ‘Sounds of Summer’ lakeside concert series runs through Aug. 1

The Furman Department of Music’s long-running lakeside concert series “Sounds of Summer” continues June 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the amphitheater with a concert by the Carolina Youth Symphony. The series presents a cross section of music including big band, jazz, international, contemporary and traditional band and orchestra favorites.

All concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. each Thursday, May 30-Aug. 1 and are free and open to the public. Bring a chair, picnic, blanket, friends and family to a Greenville tradition more than 50 years in the making. A schedule follows:

July 11 – Spartanburg Jazz Ensemble

July 18 – Matt Olson Jazz Quartet

July 25 – Lakeside Concert Band and the Foothills Brass Band

August 1 – Lakeside Concert Band
