Keep the Midlands Beautiful hosts Gala for a Greener Midlands

COLUMBIA, SC – December 1, 2012 – Keep the Midlands Beautiful will be hosting the Gala for a Greener Midlands on December 1, 2012 at the Holiday Inn at 110 McSwain Drive, West Columbia, at 6:00 PM.  All of the money raised by the event will be used for beautification projects in the midlands.

During the Gala, Keep the Midlands Beautiful will give several awards recognizing the individuals, groups and business that are stand outs in the following categories; green small business, green large business, green non-profit, green elected official, green neighborhood/community group and green event.  Members of the public are encouraged to nominate deserving groups through the Keep the Midlands Beautiful web site at www.KeeptheMidlandsBeautiful.org

We are very excited about our first Gala and award ceremony.  It is a wonderful opportunity for us to recognize the ‘green’ community and raise some much needed funds for beautification projects in our community. said Jacqueline Buck, executive director of Keep the Midlands Beautiful.  Tickets for the Gala are $75 per person, and there are table sponsorships available. The event will feature appetizers, an auction, dinner and dancing with music by The Project Band. Established in 1989 to serve Richland and Lexington Counties, the mission of Keep the Midlands Beautiful is to engage, inspire and educate the Midlands to invest in our community through litter prevention, recycling and beautification.  Each year, thousands of Midlands residents volunteer to support this mission, including more than 300 groups regularly removing litter on area roads and waterways, schools and businesses coming together to implement recycling programs, and communities pursuing beautification projects.
