Gantt Fire and Sewer District dedicates new headquarters

Gantt Fire and Sewer District announced the opening of the district’s new headquarters located at 1201 White Horse Road in Greenville. The district’s Board of Commissioners recently hosted a dedication and ribbon cutting for the new facility, which allows all of the district’s services to be housed in one location.

“The Gantt District is very proud of its new headquarters and looks forward to continuing its mission to serve our district with quality fire and sewer services,” said Steve Moore, chairman of the Gantt District Board of Commissioners. “Since 1954 we have been a vital part of this community and now through the additional space and location of our new facility, we have the opportunity to ensure our scope of services can continue to expand as our constituent numbers grow.”

The merging of the district’s services and staff offers many economies of scale and allows for the provision of seamless services to the district’s constituents.

“Careful planning went into this new building with an eye toward developing a facility that would last 50-100 years…one that we would not outgrow in the near future,” explained Moore. “Evidence of that long term vision can be seen throughout our headquarters – it is built to last and we are poised for growth!”

Senator Karl Allen was on hand at the facility dedication to offer congratulatory remarks. “Senator Allen has been tremendously supportive throughout this project and we appreciate all he has done to ensure this valuable facility became a reality for the Gantt District,” stated Moore.

Head of the Gantt District Fire Department, Chief Jay Mitchell, and Mike Stansell, director of the district’s Wastewater Collection department, also offered comments at the event. Joining Moore, Mitchell and Stansell in the ribbon cutting were the district’s other commissioners, Bruce Baker, Betty Green, Haskell Hagood, and Jack McCall, as well as members of the district’s management team and representatives of the vendors who provided leadership for the project. Green Arch Design Group was the project architect and Roebuck Buildings served as contractor for the headquarters. In an appropriate and unique twist to a traditional ribbon cutting the group actually disconnected two fire hoses to signify the opening of the building.

“This first class facility symbolizes the level of the commitment to quality and safety that runs deep in our community and among our staff,” said Chief Mitchell. “We take very seriously our responsibility to protect the residents of our district and the environment.”

“In the very near future we look forward to hosting the residents of our district at a district-wide Open House so that everyone can have the chance to tour this great addition to our community and meet the men and women who help to provide protection for their families,” said Moore.
