Columbia architecture, interiors, and planning firm Garvin Design Group is designing Halls Chophouse’s new location in Nashville. The new restaurant will occupy the ground floor of the Broadwest tower in Nashville’s West End. Construction began last week, and the project is set to be completed late spring 2022.
Design for Halls’ Nashville restaurant maximizes limited square footage to provide copious space for hospitality while minimizing visibility of service areas. Main and private dining rooms, lounge areas, and two ample bar areas are placed along the perimeter of the space, providing expansive views through Broadwest’s signature glass curtain walls. Support functions are strategically grouped deep in the interior to minimize visibility of service routes and areas. An internal corridor wraps around the main kitchen, providing guests a glimpse into Halls’ culinary operations.
Interior and exterior dining areas offer extensive views of the city skyline. Exterior dining areas overlooking 16th Avenue and Broadway provide both communal and private outdoor seating. Motorized exterior roller shades create a retractable roof for the “front porch” seating along Broadway. Custom casework behind the main bar ensures bar patrons have unobstructed views to the outside.
Fixtures and finishes celebrate both Halls’ branding and the restaurant’s Nashville setting. Hex tile flooring, vast oak bar tops, cork-wrapped columns, dark wood millwork, and interior brick walls recall the Charleston flagship that made the Halls name famous. Acoustic ceiling fins, bronze coil drapery, emerald wall tile, and colored glass light fixtures exude the youthful energy and glamour of Nashville.
“It’s such an honor to continue to be part of the Halls team,” said Scott Garvin, President of Garvin Design Group. “There’s no better way to honor the late Bill Hall than to carry on his legacy in Nashville. We’re so grateful to the Halls team and family for bringing us along to help them create their new location. It’s going to be amazing!”
Garvin Design Group’s first collaborated with Halls Chophouse on the company’s Columbia restaurant. Since its opening in December 2018, Halls Chophouse Columbia has become a point of local pride. It has provided a much-anticipated fine dining experience in South Carolina’s capitol city on par with the fine restaurants of much larger cities. The Columbia Chamber awarded Halls Columbia a Golden Nail Award in 2019, recognizing its exemplary contributions to the physical character of the Midlands.
