Garvin Design Group’s Liza Brockman joins Leadership Columbia Class of 2023

September 12, 2022

Garvin Design Group Interior Designer Liza Brockman has been named to the Leadership Columbia class of 2023. She joins a cohort of 61 emerging community leaders participating in the Columbia Chamber’s 10-month leadership development program.

Leadership Columbia is designed to provide class members in-depth exploration of issues facing the Midlands community. The program explores diverse topics through a two-day retreat, nine monthly day-long sessions, and a multi-month class project. Candidates for the program are selected based on their community involvement, capacity for leadership, commitment to the Midlands, and an interest in enhancing their capabilities. Alumni remain engaged with the program through continued service to the community post-graduation.

Liza earned her Bachelor of Arts in Architecture at Clemson University in 2004 and her Master of Interior Architecture at the University of Oregon in 2007. She previously practiced at PIVOT Architecture in Eugene, Oregon and taught as an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Oregon. Liza has been an Interior Designer at Garvin Design Group since 2017. Since then, Liza has been part of the design teams behind many of the firm’s award-winning commercial, higher education, and adaptive reuse projects. She is also an active member of the Council for Interior Design Accreditation.

“We are so thrilled that Liza is part of the Leadership Columbia class of 2023,” said Scott Garvin, President of Garvin Design Group. “She is a vital member of the Garvin Design Group team, and we’re excited that she’s chosen to carry on our firm’s long history with the Leadership Columbia program.”

Liza is Garvin Design Group’s ninth Leadership Columbia participant. Garvin Design Group’s recent Leadership Columbia alumni include Meg Syms (class of 2022), Megan Newbold (class of 2021), Andrew Rogerson (2020), and firm principal David Sickinger (class of 2017). Firm principals Scott Garvin and Terry Buchmann are also Leadership Columbia alumni and previously served in leadership roles on the Leadership Columbia Advisory Board (LCAB). Megan Newbold is currently serving on the LCAB.
