GDG partner David Sickinger graduates Leadership Columbia

June 23, 2017

Leadership Columbia focuses on equipping local, emerging innovators with the skills to create positive change in their community. Through lectures, panel discussions, interactive experiences and project site visits, the class is given a complete and diverse vocabulary of the current relevant topics facing communities within the Greater Columbia area, such as: education, politics and government, arts and culture, economic development, finance, health and human services, criminal justice and law enforcement, military affairs, and environment and tourism. David Sickinger was part of the 59 member 2017 graduating Leadership Columbia Class that together completed the renovation of the Lincoln Street tunnel from Lady Street.

A native of Greenville, David joined Garvin Design Group in 2004. He was elevated to corporate partner in 2014 and has been the lead designer and project architect on many of GDG’s notable projects including Palmetto Compress Warehouse, BDI Pharma Corporate Headquarters, SCRA’s Columbia Innovation Center including the McNair Center, the renovation and expansion of USC’s Patterson Hall, and Women’s Quad Residence Halls, and the new Williams Brice Stadium Video Board. In addition to architectural design, David acts as GDG’s internal software authority, developing the internal BIM standards for project documentation. David also spearheaded the firm’s corporate rebranding in 2013, including the creation of the company logo and website.
