General Municipal Elections scheduled for November 5

The General Municipal Elections for the city of Greenville will be held on Tuesday, November 5. Candidates for office include:
Mayor – Knox White (R)
City Council At-Large – Dorothy Dowe (D) and George Fletcher (R)
City Council District 1 – Matthew K. Johnson (D) and John DeWorken (R)
City Council District 3 – Ken Gibson (D)
Commissioner of Public Works – Deb Sofield (R)
A list of polling locations for Tuesday, November 5, is available by clicking on this link. Polling locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, call 864-467-7250. Absentee voting will be taking place at Greenville County Square, Conference Room H, beginning October 7 through November 4, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Any person wishing to vote in this election must register in person no later than Friday, October 4, 2019; Online (OVR) Sunday, October 6, 2019. Voter Registration By Mail forms will be accepted if postmarked by Monday, October 7, 2019.
Voters will be asked to provide one of the following Photo IDs at their polling place.
- S.C. Driver’s License
- ID Card issued by S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles
- S.C. Voter Registration Card with Photo
- Federal Military ID
- U.S. Passport
If you have one of these IDs, you are ready to vote. Voters should remember to bring one of these IDs with them to the polling place. Voters without Photo ID can get one free of charge from the Department of Motor Vehicles or their county voter registration office. Voters who encounter an obstacle to getting a Photo ID should bring their paper voter registration card without a photo with them to their polling place. These voters can then sign an affidavit swearing to their identity and to their obstacle to obtaining a Photo ID and vote a provisional ballot. This ballot will count unless the county board of voter registration and elections has grounds to believe the affidavit is false.
