George Drafts Receives Stilwell Award from Lexington Medical Center

WEST COLUMBIA, SC – May 13, 2009 – The Lexington County Health Services District Board of Directors honored George Drafts on May 12th with the Lexington Medical Center Foundation’s highest award, the Stilwell Award for Achievement in Philanthropy, for his contributions to Lexington Medical Center and his community. 

Mr. Drafts received the award during the Lexington Medical Center Foundation’s dinner and talk with professional golfer Lee Trevino in Columbia.  Mr. Drafts also received a resolution from the health services district.  Mr. Drafts’ efforts and leadership at Lexington Medical Center have helped make it possible to provide quality health care to the citizens of Lexington County.

George Drafts was a member of the Lexington Medical Center board of directors from 1980-1989 and served as chairman of the board from 1986-1987. He was appointed to the Lexington Medical Center Foundation board in 1993, becoming chairman of the board from 2005-2009. He contributed to the significant growth of the LMC Foundation and dedicated his time and talent to furthering the quality of life for the people of the Midlands.
