Georgetown City Council to vote on zoning moratorium, major contracts, and naming of new City Hall
July 17, 2026The Georgetown City Council is gearing up for its next Regular Meeting on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 5:30 pm. Held in the Municipal Courtroom at 2222 Highmarket Street, this meeting features a robust agenda addressing community honors, development controls, major municipal contracts, and a historic naming decision for the new City Hall.

Honoring Local Youth: The TWLUM Teens Project
The meeting will kick off with community recognition as the Council considers a motion to approve a resolution honoring the TWLUM Teens Project. This resolution celebrates the hard work, positive contributions, and community impact made by the local youth involved in the project.
Managing Growth: Zoning Moratorium Extension
In a significant move for local development, Council members will vote on the first reading of an ordinance to extend a temporary moratorium on:

The subdivision of any parcel into more than three smaller parcels.

Animal Services: A proposed $85,000 contract with St. Frances Animal Center for the fiscal year 2026/2027 budget.

Janitorial Services: An annual agreement with Randolph Krazy Kleaning Services LLC totaling $124,259.00 for fiscal year 2027.

Waste Management: A payment approval of $78,663.64 to Wrangler Holdco Company (DBA Waste Industries LLC / GFL Environmental) for commercial dumpster collections.

Water Treatment Study: An engineering proposal with Ardurra for $737,550 to conduct a vital emerging contaminant pilot study targeting PFAS treatment at the City’s Water Treatment Plant.
Naming the New City Hall
In a historic and honoring gesture, the Council will consider a resolution to officially name the newly constructed City Hall. The proposed name is The Clarence C. Smalls City Hall, dedicated to celebrating the legacy and public service of Clarence C. Smalls.
