Georgetown Community Theater Arts to present Legally Blonde Jr. the Musical
July 15, 2026This summer, Lowcountry youth interested in theater will have a new opportunity. The newly established Georgetown Community Theater Arts is hosting its inaugural workshop, which started July 13th, at the historic Winyah Auditorium in Georgetown.
The youth-centered nonprofit was founded in 2025 by Hemingway native Ronnie Hunter, a familiar face to fans of theater in Georgetown County. Hunter directed “The Sound of Music” and was featured in several productions at The Strand Theater in downtown Georgetown.
The mission of the program is to create a safe, welcoming space where young artists can build confidence, develop skills and feel celebrated through theater arts.
The workshop is open to performers between the ages of 9 and 18, both newcomers to the stage and those with experience. Participants will be rehearsing July 13-17 and July 19-23 at Winyah.
The summer workshop will close with four performances of Legally Blonde Jr. on July 24 at 7 p.m., July 25 at 2:30 and 7 p.m., and July 26 at 2:30 p.m. The production is a youth adaptation of the Broadway musical based on the wildly popular movie from 2001.
Assisting Hunter with the production will be Adalynn Hapeshis, assistant director and workshop counselor; Sarah Stuckey, music director; Ellie Forest, choreographer; and Celeste Cunningham, stage manager.
Georgetown Community Theater Arts will begin enrolling students for its eight-week fall workshop in July. Rehearsals for the “The Addams Family Musical” will begin in August. For more information, visit their website: https://georgetowncommunitytheaterarts.org/.
