Georgetown County Board of Education names Dr. Taylor Hering Principal of Georgetown High School
June 26, 2026The Georgetown County Board of Education approved the appointment of Dr. Taylor Hering, currently an assistant principal at Georgetown High School, as the school’s next principal during its meeting on June 23, 2026. Dr. Hering will assume her new role effective July 1, 2026.
Dr. Hering will succeed Mr. Craig Stone, who is retiring following his service as principal of Georgetown High School. Georgetown County School District extends its appreciation to Mr. Stone for his leadership and dedication to Georgetown High School and its students, staff, and families.
“Dr. Hering has been a key member of the leadership team at Georgetown High School and has contributed significantly to the school’s academic growth and improvement efforts. She is an instructional leader who believes in high expectations, continuous improvement, and excellence in all areas of school performance. Her experience as an instructional leader, combined with her focus on student achievement, positions her well to guide Georgetown High School into its next chapter.”
Prior to joining the administrative team at Georgetown High School, Dr. Hering served as an instructional coach at Andrews High School and taught at Waccamaw Middle School, Carvers Bay Middle School, and Berkeley High School.
Dr. Hering earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from the College of Charleston, a Master of Science in Learning Design and Technology from Purdue University, an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University, and a Doctor of Education in Education Systems Improvement Science from Clemson University.

Together, we will create opportunities for every Bulldog to be supported, challenged, and prepared for success in college, career, and life.
