Georgetown County Environmental Services division to host free composting workshop
July 20, 2026The Georgetown County Environmental Services Division invites community members to attend a free Composting Workshop designed to help residents turn kitchen waste into rich, natural fertilizer for their gardens.
The event will take place on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Carvers Bay Library, located at 13048 Choppee Rd, Hemingway, SC 29554. Admission is free, though advance registration is required. As a special bonus, workshop attendees will receive a FREE 5 cu. ft. Compost Tumbler to help get their home composting system started.
During the session, participants will learn practical tips and best practices for creating nutrient-dense compost from everyday household food scraps and organic yard waste, reducing landfill waste while enhancing local soil health.
