Germain Dermatology Welcomes Award-Winning Mohs Surgeon to Practice

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC – Germain Dermatology of Mount Pleasant, S.C. announces the addition of Joseph McGowan IV, M.D., Mohs Micrographic and Dermatologic Surgeon, to its practice located at 612 Seacoast Parkway in Mount Pleasant.
Dr. McGowan is a board-certified dermatologist specializing in the state-of-the-art technique of Mohs Surgery for the treatment of complex skin cancers. He received his doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, S.C. Dr. McGowan completed his dermatology residency at the Medical University of South Carolina, in Charleston, S.C.; following he completed his fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Skin Cancer Surgery at the Dayton Skin Surgery Center in Dayton, Ohio.
Dr. McGowan is an internationally recognized award-winning surgeon with honors including the Felix Lauter Award for Excellence in Microbiology and Immunology, Shah Award for Excellence in Pharmacology, North American Clinical Dermatologic Society Research Competition finalist and more. He has authored numerous articles and has lectured at many national and international professional meetings on skin cancer and reconstructive techniques.
