GHS’ chief diversity officer named top leader by national magazine

August 4, 2016

GREENVILLE, SC – Kinneil Coltman, Greenville Health System’s (GHS) chief diversity officer, has been named to Diversity MBA’s “Top 100 Under 50” list. The list recognizes executive and emerging leaders who are focused on workplace inclusion and a commitment to community.

“While we focus on people of color and women, we have seen an increase of LGBT and veteran honorees, which means we are becoming a comprehensive model to celebrate diverse leadership,” said Pamela McElvane, publisher and CEO of Diversity MBA magazine.

Coltman and the magazine’s other honorees will be honored in September. Her being named to the list is the latest honor for GHS’ Diversity Department, which also made Diversity MBA’s “50 Out Front List: Best Places for Women & Diverse Managers to Work” for the fifth consecutive year.

“It’s an honor to be named to this list,” said Coltman. “I share this recognition with many of my GHS colleagues who are committed to diversity and enhancing the patient experience.”

Other 2016 GHS diversity highlights include Coltman receiving the 2016 Women Making History Award from the Greenville Cultural Exchange Center and Greenville Memorial Hospital being named one of five hospitals in South Carolina as a leader in LGBT Healthcare Equality by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.

GHS recently established its LGBT Patient Care Collaborative. In recognition of various national studies indicating LGBT patients are at risk of experiencing healthcare disparities, the GHS collaborative consists of physicians and other providers who are committed to decreasing these disparities while improving the healthcare experience for LGBT patients and their families.

GHS also has many employee resource groups that bring employees together to better serve the system and community, including a veterans association with more than 450 members.
