GHS diversity officer honored with Women Making History Award

GREENVILLE, SC – Greenville Health System’s Chief Diversity Officer, Kinneil Coltman, DHA, is one of six women to receive a 2016 Women Making History Award from the Greenville Cultural Exchange Center. The award is presented annually during Women’s History Month to women in Greenville who have dedicated their lives to making a difference in the communities in which they live and work.
“I am honored to receive this award and to stand alongside so many smart, talented and inspirational women who strive to make our community a better place to live and work,” said Dr. Coltman.
Dr. Coltman has served as GHS’ chief diversity officer since 2007. In her nine years at GHS, she has started five employee resource groups, re-engineered the language services department and made improvements to the organization’s supplier diversity program. During that same time, GHS has been recognized both regionally and nationally for its diversity efforts. In fact, the organization was recently named one of the top 50 companies for diverse managers and women to work by Diversity MBA Magazine for a fifth year.
Dr. Coltman also leads the diversity efforts for the USC School of Medicine Greenville and serves as lead teaching faculty on topics related to health equity, social determinants of health and cross cultural health care. She also serves as faculty for the American Hospital Association’s Fellowship in Diversity Management in Health Care.
Outside of health care, Dr. Coltman has chaired the boards of Upstate International and YWCA of Greenville. She currently serves on the Urban League of the Upstate board. In 2014, she was honored with the Calder D. Ehrmann Outstanding Individual Award, part of the Riley Institute’s Upstate Diversity Leadership Awards.
