GHS Family YMCA hires Peter Townley

Peter Townley, MSW, CSCS, USAW-SPC, CPT, has been hired as the new Sr., Wellness Director at the Greenville Health System Family YMCA. Townley has an extensive exercise science background and received his BS in Sports Science with an emphasis on Athletic Training from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS and received a Masters in Clinical Exercise Physiology with an emphasis on biomechanics from the University of Kansas.  Most recently Townley was the Division Chair for the School of Education, and HPER Assistant Professor of Exercise Science at the Ottawa University, Ottawa, KS before accepting the position at the YMCA.

As the Sr., Wellness Director, Townley will oversee the entire health and wellness component of the GHS Family Y, working closely with Executive Director, Marti Stegall, on fitness center operations, group exercise, and personal training.

“I am excited to have Peter as the new Senior Wellness Director,” said Jeff Knox, Sr., Vice President of Programming of YMCA of Greenville. Peter has significant experience in group exercise, personal training, and exercise physiology, which will be a great asset to the GHS Family Y.”
