Gina McCuen Lexington's Small Business Person of the Year

LEXINGTON, SC – February 5, 2009 – On Tuesday, February 03, 2009 members of the Lexington Chamber of Commerce came out in record numbers to network, enjoy Country Fried Steak and Grits and learn who has been named the 2009 Small Business Person of the Year. The Guest speaker was President of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, Otis Rawl. The Competitiveness Agenda was the topic of discussion from the speaker.

The evening ended with the announcement that Gina McCuen of Snelling Staffing Services of the Midlands was named the 2009 Small Business Person of the Year. Mrs. McCuen has been an adjunct professor and has given lectures at USC’s Darla Moore School of Business for 15 years and at the Leadership Institute of Columbia College for the “Entrepreneurship 2001” Small Business for Young Women.  She is a long time Chamber member and also a member of a number of organizations that support projects of youth development, the arts and civic responsibilities.  She has been a Franchisee since 1982 and saw the growth in Lexington and decided to build her own office complex several years later.  Mrs. McCuen has been widely recognized for her numerous community activities. 

The winner is a native of Farmville, NC and a graduate of Barton College in Wilson, NC, with a Master’s Degree in Education from Ohio University.  She has three children, three stepchildren and fifteen grandchildren and is married to Sam McCuen.

The Greater Lexington Chamber of Commerce Small Business Person of the Year is what small business is all about. Not only does this person succeed as a business owner, but also gives back to the community.
