Girl Scouts appoints Midlands Women of Distinction Chair

COLUMBIA, SC – Girl Scouts of South Carolina – Mountains to Midlands has appointed Sarena Burch as 2017 Chair for its Midlands Women of Distinction event.  The recognition and fundraising dinner celebrates and honors outstanding women from the Midlands for their professional accomplishments, service to others, and impact on their community.

Sarena Burch is a Senior Vice President with SCANA Corporation.  Burch joined SCANA in 1991 and is the company’s Risk Management Officer and Corporate Compliance Officer.  She is a member of the Energy Bar Association, the South Carolina Women’s Lawyers Association, Women in Nuclear and the Southern Gas Association. Burch serves on the board of ETV Endowment of South Carolina and Homeless No More. She is Chair of the Richland Library Foundation Board.  She is the sponsor of SCANA’s Women’s Leadership Group.

In 2014 Burch was honored as a Woman of Distinction by the Girl Scouts of South Carolina- Mountains to Midlands Council.  She was also honored as the 2016 United Way of the Midlands Volunteer of the Year. A native of West Columbia, SC, Burch earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Converse College, and a juris doctor at the University Of South Carolina School Of Law.

The Midlands Women of Distinction recognition is set for April 13, 2017 from 6:00-9:00pm at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
