Girl Scouts of South Carolina – Mountains to Midlands Announces New Board of Directors Members

GREENVILLE, SC – Girl Scouts of South Carolina – Mountains to Midlands has announced the election of four new members to its Board of Directors serving a 22-county jurisdiction.  The new members are Laura Allen, Spartanburg; Barbara Barton, Columbia; Lillian Brock Flemming, Greenville; and Linda Salane, Columbia.

Laura Allen, (pictured) Spartanburg, is Membership Director statewide for SCANPO (SC Nonprofit Association), Executive Director for The Children’s Security blanket in Spartanburg County and the Regional Sales Director for PaySouth Merchant Services.  She has an A.S. Business from Dean College.  She serves on the Healthcare Investments Committee of United Way of the Piedmont; the Grants Committee of Women Giving for Spartanburg; is Co-chair Development and Board Member for The Women’s Fund of the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee; and is a lifelong Sustaining Member of the Junior League.  Extensive previous board service includes the Belle Meade Plantation, Nashville’s Sexual Assault Center, the Make-A-Wish foundation and Ronald McDonald House.  While serving the Red Cross National Headquarters, she was instrumental in the formation of Tiffany Circles for women major donors in a number of regions.

 

 

 

Barbara Barton, Columbia, is the shareholder in the Barton Law Firm, P.A. She has a B.A. in Journalism from the University of South Carolina and a J.D. from the USC Law School.  She is certified as Specialist in Bankruptcy Law by the American Bankruptcy Institute and the South Carolina Supreme Court.  Barbara is a member of South Carolina Women Lawyers where she previously served as Board Member, Officer and President.  She has been a member of the South Carolina Bar Association Board of Governors; and has served as a board member, officer and president of the South Carolina Bankruptcy Law Association.  She is a member of the American College of Bankruptcy and the American Bankruptcy Institute.  She is a recipient of the Billy Robinson Public Service Award and the Compleat Lawyer Award and has been selected as one of the Best Lawyers in America.

Lillian Brock Flemming,  (pictured) Greenvilleis a Council Member for the City of Greenville and is a Professional Employment Recruiter for Greenville County Schools.  She has a B.A. and a M.Ed Mathematics Education from Furman University.  In September of this year, Lillian received an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities from Furman University, as well.  She is Board Chairman of Brockwood Senior Housing, Inc.; Board Chair for Southernside Community Center; member and past President of Greenville Blue Star Mothers Chp3 in Greer; and serves on the Board of Boy Scouts Blue Ridge Council; on the Executive Board of NAACP Greenville Branch; the AALG Board of United Way of Greenville; and is a member of Palmetto Society of United Way of Greenville County.  Lillian has received many awards and honors, among them Young Philanthropists of United Way, Mentor of the Year Honoree and Furman University, Outstanding Alumni Award.

 

 

 

Linda Salane, Columbiais CEO of WNN Consulting and Executive Coaching.  She received a B.A. Sociology, MEd SPS and EdD HE from University of South Carolina Columbia.   Linda previously held various positions at Columbia College, the most recent as Executive Director, The Leadership Institute, Special Assistant to the President. She serves on the boards of Palmetto Center for Women, Women in Philanthropy, The Cooperative Ministry and as the Board Treasurer of Sandhills and volunteers with Transitions and St. Lawrence Place.  Linda has received many awards and honors including the Columbia Chamber of Commerce, Community Advocate Award and one for Most Influential Women in the Midlands for several years.

 

Returning Board Members At-Large for a second term are: Bridget Bennon-Lytton, Columbia; WReed Brown, Gaffney; and Hammond E. Edwards III, Columbia.

Returning Board Members At-Large for a third term are: Rebecca H. Lever, Greer;Bonnie (Boo) Ramage, Greenwood; Linda C. Renwick, Newberry; Jacqueline (Bootsie) H. Wynne, Lexington.

The new and returning board members listed above will join the following members of the Board of Directors who are serving a current term through December, 2015:

Willie R. Bell, Aiken; Kimbrelly N. Kegler, Greenville; Candace Curry Leuck, Greenville; Karen H. Mitchell, Spartanburg; Magaly Penn, Simpsonville; Miriam R. Pflug, Spartanburg; Judy C. Simpson, North Augusta; Mary Mazzola Spivey, Columbia; Mary Winter Teaster, Columbia; Melissa (Boo) H. White, Sumter; andKaren Luchka Wingo, Columbia.

Of the returning board members, the following will remain as officers:

Rebecca H. Lever, Chair of the Board, Greer; Karen Luchka Wingo, Vice Chair of the Board, Columbia; and Hammond E. Edwards III, Secretary/Treasurer, Columbia.
