GLA expands entrepreneurship program following successful pilot
August 18, 2026Registration now open for 20 participants to earn a nationally recognized entrepreneurship credential
Following a successful spring pilot, Greenville Literacy Association (GLA) is opening registration for 20 participants in the next cohort of B.U.I.L.D. Your Future, a 12-week entrepreneurship program beginning September 1, 2026.
B.U.I.L.D. Your Future helps aspiring entrepreneurs, individuals with a business idea or side hustle, and existing small business owners develop the practical skills needed to turn ideas into viable business opportunities. Participants also prepare for the U.S. Entrepreneurship Certification exam, providing an opportunity to earn a nationally recognized entrepreneurship credential through the Coalition on Adult Basic Education (COABE).
The spring pilot demonstrated strong results: seven participants completed the program and six earned the U.S. Entrepreneurship Certification. GLA is now seeking 20 participants for its next cohort.
“Many adults have the talent, skills, and ideas to create opportunities for themselves but may not know how to turn those ideas into a sustainable business,” said Victoria Novak, Executive Director of Greenville Literacy Association. “B.U.I.L.D. Your Future provides a practical roadmap, individualized support, and the opportunity to earn a nationally recognized credential that demonstrates what they have learned.”
B.U.I.L.D. stands for Business Concepts, Understanding Ownership, Integrating Financial Skills, Launching with Marketing, and Delivering & Demonstrating.
During the 12-week program, participants will learn how to:
- Develop a business plan and business model
- Identify customers and conduct market research
- Build a brand and marketing strategy
- Understand budgeting, pricing, and financial management
- Set goals for business development and growth
- Strengthen professional communication and networking skills
- Prepare for the U.S. Entrepreneurship Certification exam
Participants apply what they learn directly to their own business ideas and complete the program with a business plan they can use to move their ideas forward. Those who successfully pass the U.S. Entrepreneurship Certification exam earn the nationally recognized credential.
The 12-week program begins September 1, 2026, and costs $199 per participant. Space is limited to 20 participants, and early registration is encouraged.
