Global Location Strategies hires interns

June 13, 2019

Global Location Strategies (GLS) has hired two summer interns from Furman University to support its growing base of business and to help prepare them for career advancement after graduating from college.

Rising senior Megan Rizzi will support the consulting team at GLS, which is primarily responsible for providing location advisory services for companies around the world. Rizzi is an Economics major with a focus on Business Administration. She is a member of the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society and is a Fellow of Furman’s Shucker Leadership Institute, a two-year program designed to help students explore their passions, strengths, and values, experience personal, professional, and team-based contexts for leadership development. Her recent participation in a study abroad program in Edinburgh, Scotland piqued her interest in pursuing a career that involves global business interests, making her a strong fit for GLS.

Intern Derek Barnes will assist the business development team at GLS, supporting its efforts to attract qualified business leads and secure new clients. He, too, is a rising senior at Furman University and recently participated in a study abroad program in Brussels, Belgium where he interned with the American Chamber of Commerce Belgium. Barnes is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Political and International Affairs with a minor in Environmental Studies. He is the newly elected judicial chair of Furman’s chapter of the Kappa Alpha Order fraternity and vice president of the Furman Club basketball team.

John Longshore, Principal Consultant and Vice President of Innovation at GLS, said, “Megan and Derek are both extremely bright and mature and we’re looking forward to having them join our team this summer. We hope to open their eyes to the dynamic career opportunities within the global site selection industry and want them to be enriched by work that is both valuable and rewarding.”
