GMK adds three professionals to design-build and engineering divisions

GMK Associates, Inc., announced that Law Powers and Jimmy Yonce have joined the firm’s design-build division, and Zachary Jordan has joined the firm’s engineering division.

Mr. Powers is serving as a design-build project manager with more than 22 years of construction industry experience, He is a team-driven leader focused on fostering positive working relationships among Owners, architecture/engineering design teams, construction subcontractors, and other key project stakeholders. He is highly experienced in managing new construction and renovation projects, primarily for governmental, big box retail, and other commercial clients. Prior to joining GMK, Mr. Powers served as a senior project manager, project manager, and project superintendent for several General Contractors operating throughout South Carolina, including a firm that specializes in historic restoration and masonry. He studied Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of South Carolina and was an editor and videographer for the NBC affiliate in Columbia (WIS-TV) for 5 years prior to beginning his career in construction.

Mr. Yonce is a performance-oriented and results-driven project superintendent with more than 14 years of direct experience within the construction industry, including 8 years serving as a building/construction project superintendent, primarily within the residential and custom-housing construction industries. His professional skills include successfully managing building schedules and complex construction subcontractor tasks in accordance with architectural and engineering plans, blueprints, and schematics to ensure high-quality end products within required budgets and timeframes. Prior to joining GMK, Mr. Yonce owned and operated his own successful custom home building and plumbing businesses, as well as served as a building superintendent for two large-scale residential home building companies with operations in South Carolina and Georgia. Mr. Yonce studied criminal justice at the University of South Carolina Salkehatchie, and is a licensed residential builder, a licensed master plumber, and a certified erosion prevention and sediment control inspector.

Mr. Jordan has joined GMK as an associate electrical engineer responsible for evaluating existing electrical systems and developing designs for new systems or system upgrades under the guidance of GMK’s senior engineering staff. He is a recent graduate of Clemson University (Honors College) with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and a Bachelor of Arts degree in performing arts (with an emphasis in audio technology). Mr. Jordan frequently made both the Dean’s List and the President’s List for academic achievement and was a student leader in multiple organizations at Clemson, including Tiger Band, Clemson Choirs, TIGEROAR, and Kappa Kappa Psi.
