GMK interior designer Marta Lockwood achieves NCIDQ certification and licensure

January 26, 2021

GMK announced that Marta Lockwood has recently passed the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) exam and has become an NCIDQ-certified and licensed interior designer for the firm’s Interiors division. The three-part NCIDQ exam is currently the only nationally recognized professional interior design certification in the United States and Canada. More than half of U.S. states require the NCIDQ certificate for licensing and regulating the Interior Design profession.

“Throughout her career with GMK, Marta has consistently taken on new challenges and has proven to be an extremely valuable and creative resource for our interior design clients,” said Barbara Monahan, president of GMK Interiors. “Her recent NCIDQ licensing is a very well deserved and major professional achievement.”

Ms. Lockwood’s design focus is primarily on projects within the senior living industry, and she has assumed project management and lead design responsibilities for multiple larger-scale LifePlan/CCRC projects geared towards “re-positioning” communities to anticipate future resident needs. Her attention to detail and design talent adds an extra “wow factor” to each of the projects in which she is involved. She also offers exceptional schematic design skills, and brings her designs to life through creative boards, computer-generated graphics, and other innovative visuals.

Ms. Lockwood is a graduate with honors from Ohio University with a bachelor of fine arts degree in interior architecture. She has served as an interior designer with GMK since 2015.
