Go Higher

A few of weeks ago, I talked about losing my sister-in-law and my friend named Robb to cancer.  Since then, I was told this story by a mutual friend of Robb’s.

Robb did track in college and threw the javelin.  I actually met Robb at a FCA camp and one year we roomed together where Robb kept the thermostat on snow and I was waiting for the sides of beef to be brought in.

Robb’s son, Reichley, pole vaults in high school.  Reichley had never placed in the top 10 at a track meet.

Robb had been working with Reichley and was trying to hang on to be able to see his son in the district meet.

Robb didn’t make it.

In the wake and sorrow of his dad’s passing, Reichley, who had never placed in the top 10,  took 2nd place at the district championships.

Way to go, Reichley!  Your dad would be proud.  Thank you for inspiring the rest of us.

And for the rest of us, keep vaulting.  That bar, that obstacle, that challenge… it is there to go over.

Go higher today.
