September 21, 2021

On Wednesday, October 6, at 9:00 AM, Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina (GIUMSC) will open its new location at 524 Columbia Avenue in Chapin, South Carolina. This is Goodwill’s first location in Chapin and will include a retail store, donation center, and a Community Connection location.

In addition to providing gently-used clothing and other merchandise at affordable prices, GIUMSC’s retail stores support programs to help people prepare for and find employment – a mission that is in particular demand right now.

Services provided by GIUMSC include certified training programs, helping people prepare for careers in healthcare, transportation, digital literacy, logistics, and customer service/retail/food service. Goodwill Job Connections also provide job seekers with access to resources and skills development that can lead to great employment success in areas including (but not limited to) healthcare, administrative, manufacturing and the automotive fields. Program participants in these free programs improve on skills needed to search for, gain, and retain employment.

Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina helps people become independent through education and training leading to employment.  Last year, Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina placed over 7,600 individuals into employment, which contributed an economic impact of $118 Million through their secured wages.
