December 8, 2014

COLUMBIA, SC – Governor Nikki Haley today named Richele Taylor as the acting director of the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (LLR). Taylor has served as the Deputy Director of Administration at LLR since March of this year.

“Over the last three years Holly Pisarik has done great work at LLR, streamlining the licensing process and reducing burdensome regulations – all things that make it easier for businesses to find success in our state,” said Gov. Nikki Haley. “We knew that we needed someone to continue the progress Holly brought to the agency, and I couldn’t be more excited or confident that Richelle Taylor is exactly the right person to step in and do that.”

As Deputy Director of Administration, Taylor was responsible for overseeing the agency’s Human Resources, Procurement and Financial Divisions.

Prior to joining LLR, Taylor was Of Counsel at Fisher & Phillips LLP, where she advised and represented clients in all areas of employment law. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received her law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law.

“I am excited to serve as the Director of LLR,” said Richele Taylor. “The agency takes seriously its mission of protecting the health, safety and economic well-being of the public. Under Governor Haley, the agency has become more effective and efficient, and I look forward to continuing the agency’s success and progress.”

“I am so thankful for the opportunity to serve as LLR’s Director for the last several years,” said current director, Holly Pisarik. “With the help of the employees, we have created a more efficient, effective, and customer friendly agency. Without a doubt, Richele Taylor is the right person to continue to move the agency forward. I have worked with Richele over the last few months, and I have been impressed by her drive, her leadership skills, her judgment, and her ability to problem solve.”

The transition will take place over the next week.

Taylor, 38, is currently a resident of Lexington County and is married with one child.
