Governmental law attorney Alexis Lindsay joins Pope Flynn

May 2, 2020

Alexis Lindsay has joined Pope Flynn’s governmental law practice. Lindsay brings substantial litigation experience to the Columbia-based firm, which focuses on governmental and public finance matters. She began her career in litigation, including significant matters involving governmental power, representing clients in state and federal courts. Lindsay’s practice will concentrate in providing local governments advice and counsel.

“One of the things that attracted me to Pope Flynn was the team they have assembled to tackle the pressing issues facing local public entities in South Carolina,” said Lindsay. “The local government practice area is particularly appealing to me because it involves complex and interesting work that has a real impact on the community. Whether helping a small town to do the best it can to serve its citizens on a limited budget or addressing difficult state law governmental powers issues, I enjoy helping solve the full spectrum of these problems as a team, both with the client and my fellow attorneys at Pope Flynn.”

“We are pleased to have a capable and seasoned attorney like Alexis join our firm,” said Joe Lucas, managing member of Pope Flynn. “Her experience complements our local government practice and provides additional depth in this growing practice area. We strongly believe that when we hire attorneys with great legal and people skills, our clients will benefit over the long run — we are thrilled to have Alexis on our team.”

A 2013 graduate of Leadership Columbia, Lindsay is also a member and secretary of the board of directors of the Congaree Vista Guild, which is dedicated to nurturing and promoting Columbia’s Vista, a South Carolina cultural district near the Congaree River. Lindsay also serves on the executive committee of the John Belton O’Neall Inn of Court, “an association of lawyers, judges, and other legal professionals from all levels and backgrounds who share a passion for professional excellence.”

Lindsay is one of the authors of the book The Law of Legal Malpractice in South Carolina, published in 2017. She received her JD from the University of South Carolina School of Law, and an international MBA from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. She graduated with a BA in marketing from Clemson University.

She will be based out of Pope Flynn’s Columbia office.
