April 2, 2021

Governor Henry McMaster has appointed Andrew P. Dobson of Greer to the Board of Commissioners of the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind (SCSDB) where he will represent Congressional District 4.

“We are very pleased to have Andrew join us on the board,” said Scott Brawley, chairman of the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind Board of Commissioners. “His knowledge of finance as well as the school and its foundation will be a great asset to us.”

A certified public accountant, Dobson joined Halliday, Schwartz & Co. in September 2010. As a shareholder, he helps oversee the audit, tax and advisory services of the firm, concentrating primarily on school districts, local governments, and private company assurance engagements; local government advisory services; and individual and corporate taxation.

Dobson received his bachelor’s in accounting from Wofford College in 2009 and his master’s in professional accountancy with an audit emphasis from Clemson University in 2010. He is a licensed certified public accountant in South Carolina, a member of the SC Association of CPAs, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Dobson is currently involved with the SC Department of Education as a member of the Single Audit Committee and a member of the Act 23 Task Force.

Dobson has been a member of the school’s foundation board since 2019 and currently serves as its treasurer. He also serves as treasurer of the Board of Directors at the Employers Network, and vice chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dobson Tape Ministry.

Dobson follows his father, Robert A. “Bobby” Dobson, in representing Congressional District 4 on the school’s board. Bobby Dobson served on the board for 12 years and as chairman from 2011 to 2019.

A native of Greenville, SC, Andrew Dobson is an active member of the Greenville community and is a member of the Spartanburg Downtown Rotary Club. He attends Taylors First Baptist Church with his wife and daughter. Outside the office, Andrew loves all sports, hunting and fishing, and spending time with his family.
