Gov. McMaster issues proclamation recognizing S.C. Manufacturing Week and National Manufacturing Day

In recognition of the importance of manufacturing to South Carolina’s economy, Governor Henry McMaster issued a proclamation declaring the week of September 30th-October 4th as Manufacturing Week and October 4, 2019 as National Manufacturing Day in South Carolina.

“South Carolina’s reputation for manufacturing excellence is well known throughout the country,” Governor McMaster said. “The manufacturing industry is a key driver of economic success and opportunity for all of our citizens.”

Governor McMaster made the announcement along with the leadership and members of the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance at the Upstate Career Showcase, an annual event hosted by the Upstate Regional Education Center. The showcase connects high school students from Cherokee, Union and Spartanburg counties with potential employers.

“The impact of manufacturing in South Carolina is truly meaningful,” said Sara Hazzard, President and CEO of the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance. “This industry makes possible a stronger future through innovation, it connects us with the world as a leader in global commerce and provides meaningful career opportunities that truly transform communities for the better. We are proud to celebrate the incredible impact the manufacturing industry has throughout the Palmetto State.”

The purpose of Manufacturing Week in South Carolina and National Manufacturing Day is to raise awareness of the achievements and opportunities the industry has throughout the state.
