SC-Based Company Helps Wreaths Across America™ Recognize Those Who Have Served

GASTON, SC – December 18, 2012 – G&P Trucking Company (www.gptruck.com) again honored war veterans by volunteering its services to pick up and deliver Christmas wreaths for the graves of veterans all across South Carolina, announced Clifton Parker, President and General Manager of the company.

G&P Trucking is working with Wreaths Across America™, a national project of the Worchester Wreath Company in Harrington, Maine, to place wreaths on the graves of military veterans in South Carolina. The company volunteered to send a driver and a company truck to Maine to pick up the wreaths and deliver them to veterans’ cemeteries in South Carolina.  This year, the truck will be escorted by motorcyclists from the Patriot Guard Riders, a national organization whose volunteers offer their services for military funerals and other important events.

“We are pleased to be able to deliver wreaths to cemeteries across the state as a small token of our appreciation to our war veterans,” says Parker.  “It’s just a small way that we can give something back to all those who have helped preserve the freedoms we enjoy today.  We consider it an honor to take part in the Wreaths Across America Program.”

A Vietnam veteran who works at G&P is now in his third year of volunteering to drive the truck. Danny Burgess says he is proud to be part of such a wonderful tribute to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. “Driving the truck to deliver these wreaths across our state is both an honor and a privilege for me.”

Deliveries will take place at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, Oakwood Baptist Church in West Columbia and at Six Oaks Cemetery on Hilton Head Island. This year, the truck has received a special permit to deliver the wreaths to Harbour Town.
