SENECA, SC – The Oconee Economic Alliance and Oconee County, South Carolina celebrate the start of Phase I development at the Golden Corner Commerce Park, located along Highway 59 in Fair Play, South Carolina.

This industrial park, approximately two miles off Interstate 85 via exit 2, is the closest industrial park in South Carolina to metro Atlanta, and is pending certified industrial park status by the South Carolina Department of Commerce. First phase of development within the industrial park consists of constructing a 1,200 foot asphalt entrance road and a paved access road to the sewer pump station.  Along with road construction, a 60 acre site will be graded to a 1.5% slope making it suitable for industrial development.

“This industrial park is a testament to the leadership of our County Council and staff as this park will bring greater economic prosperity to our area,” said Glenn Buddin, chairman of the Oconee Economic Alliance. “Development of this industrial park gives us product to sell and will result in more jobs in the future for our community.”

“It is reassuring to see Phase I of this industrial park in progress. Grading this park will result in more economic development opportunities and puts Oconee County on the forefront for industrial growth in Upstate South Carolina,” said Joel Thrift, chairman of Oconee County Council. “We are excited about the potential southern Oconee County has and the future of our community.”
