Grand Strand Health to reopen its Emergency entrance off Hwy. 17 this Monday

September 18, 2026

Grand Strand Medical Center will reopen its emergency department entrance off Hwy. 17 Byp. N. on Monday, Sept. 21, 2026 at 7 a.m., following the completion of enhancements designed to improve the experience for patients and visitors arriving for emergency care.

After this date, patients and visitors seeking emergency care should use the emergency entrance near Hwy. 17 Byp. N. instead of entering through the hospital’s main entrance. Signage will be placed nearby to guide patients and visitors.

The emergency department entrance enhancements are part of a larger, ongoing investment in Grand Strand Medical Center’s main campus. Work continues on improvements to the hospital’s laboratory and operating rooms (ORs), including the addition of three operating rooms, expanded storage space for supplies and upgraded laboratory processing capabilities.

“We appreciate the patience and understanding of our patients, visitors and community while this important work was underway,” said Lauren Davis, Chief Operations Officer at Grand Strand Health. “We look forward to continuing the improvements across our campus to support the growing healthcare needs of our community.”

Construction on the remaining laboratory and operating room enhancements will continue in phases to minimize disruption to patient care. Grand Strand Medical Center will continue to provide updates as work progresses.
