Greenville Area Development Corporation Adds Emily Tumlin to Team

September 24, 2012

GREENVILLE, SC – September 24, 2012 – The Greenville Area Development Corporation, the county-chartered organization tasked with promoting and enhancing the economic growth of Greenville County, has added Emily Tumlin as an intern for Fall 2012.  During her internship, she will support GADC’s social media efforts.

Tumlin joins the GADC team from Clemson University, where she is currently a senior and majoring in Communication Studies with a minor in Travel & Tourism. Throughout her college career, Tumlin has held several jobs and internships with the Clemson University Communication Studies Administrative office, Vickery Student-Athlete Tutoring office, and Charlotte Arrangements DMC in Charlotte, NC.

Tumlin participated in a research study regarding social media measurement in the recently-opened Social Media Listening Center at Clemson University. Her social media research, conducted by Kristie Baum-Byrum of Byrum Innovation Group and in association with Clemson University, Dell and Radian 6, allowed for an in-depth study of how social media research can be measured and analyzed for brand awareness and communication research.

Tumlin spent early summer 2012 studying international public relations in Brussels, Belgium with the Clemson University Communication Studies department. Seminars with professionals from Porter Novelli allowed for observation of international social media practices and business affairs.

Through Clemson and its initiatives, Emily has been involved in very cutting-edge social media use and efficacy.  We are thrilled to have her as we look to build awareness of Greenville in the most innovative ways possible, said Kevin Landmesser, GADC Vice President.
