Greenville Business Elliott Davis LLC Named Verner Award recipient

COLUMBIA, SC – February 20,, 2014 –  The South Carolina Arts Commission announces Elliott Davis, LLC, as one of five recipients of the 2014 Elizabeth O’Neill Verner Governor’s Awards for the Arts. Established in 1972, the annual awards recognize outstanding achievement and contributions to the arts in South Carolina. The Verner Awards are the highest arts awards bestowed by the state.

This year’s recipients:

·         Individual Artist: Edward Rice, North Augusta

·         Individual: Cynthia Boiter, Chapin

·         Arts in Education: Beaufort County School District, Beaufort

·         Business: Elliott Davis, LLC, Greenville

·         Government: The City of Greenwood, South Carolina

South Carolina’s quality of life, education and economy are enhanced tremendously by those who dedicate their work and lives to the arts, said S.C. Arts Commission Chairman Dr. Sarah Lynn Hayes. The Verner Awards recognize that service of commitment and passion. We are honored again this year to present the awards to a most worthy group of organizations and individuals. We are grateful for their contributions to our state.

Awards will be presented at a midday Statehouse ceremony on Thursday, May 8. The S.C. Arts Foundation will honor the recipients and the arts community at the South Carolina Arts Gala on Wednesday, May 7. The gala is a fundraiser supporting the programs of the S.C. Arts Commission.
