Greenville business leader announces for State House District 22

GREENVILLE, SC – Jason Elliott, a former District Director for Jim DeMint, announced his candidacy for the South Carolina House of Representatives this morning.
Outlining a plan that would focus on creating collaboration between the city, county and the state to best serve District 22 that includes improving roads, infrastructure and livability, the pro-life Republican said he will be a leader who will listen to the people.
“I want to make a difference for my community,” Elliott said. “We need true conservative leadership heading to Columbia.”
A Greenville native, Elliott graduated with a degree in political science from Clemson University where he was student body president his senior year. He then earned his law degree from the University of South Carolina.
After law school, Elliott served as an Assistant Solicitor for the Tenth Judicial Circuit, prosecuting criminals in Anderson and Oconee counties. Further serving residents of the Upstate, he worked for then-Congressman DeMint from 1999-2003 as DeMint’s District Director.
In 2004, Elliott opened his own practice, Jason Elliott, Attorney at Law, LLC. During the first year, he regularly prosecuted DUI and other criminal matters in Greenville County for the Thirteenth Circuit Solicitor. The firm primarily represents clients in family law and criminal matters. In private practice, Elliott has represented hundreds of clients throughout Upstate South Carolina.
In the community, he is a former president of the Rotary Club of Greenville, a member of the Greenville County Legislative Delegation Transportation Committee, former chair of Greenville Chamber of Commerce Legislative Committee, past President for Greenville GOP Precinct three and past chairman of the Greenville Tech Charter High School board.
Elliott is seeking the Republican Party nomination in the June 14 Primary for District 22, which runs from the North Main section of the City of Greenville through the neighborhoods around Wade Hampton High School and Bob Jones University to Botany Woods to Pelham Road to Haywood Mall to the 85-385 Interchange to Roper Mountain Road to Highway 14.
“This district is made up of a lot of distinct communities that have specific needs,” he said. “I am going to work with and for the people to get the solutions they need.”
