To Advance Economic Mobility through Data

The Greenville Chamber will participate in the recently launched Mobilizing Data for Talent Development program, a national initiative led by the Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness (CREC) and funded by the Gates Foundation. The program supports efforts to strengthen education and workforce pathways by improving local data infrastructure and advancing evidence-based strategies that connect individuals to sustainable, high-demand careers.

The program will help the Greenville Chamber and its partners build secure, regional data-sharing systems and is an important step towards meeting the Greenville Chamber’s goal of 60% of Greenville County working-age adults earning a high-quality post-secondary credential, certificate or degree by 2030.

“Data-driven decision making is essential to developing solutions to improve economic mobility,” said Carlos Phillips, President/CEO of the Greenville Chamber. He adds, “Partnering with Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness bolsters our efforts to foster an inclusive economy where all residents have the opportunity to thrive.”

The Chamber will join a national cohort that includes organizations from Oregon, North Carolina, Ohio, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Indiana. Through this collaboration, participants will work to implement localized, practical solutions to improve education and employment outcomes.

“This program represents a transformative opportunity to bridge gaps between education and employment by leveraging data,” said Ken Poole, CEO/President of CREC. “By equipping these organizations with the tools to track and share outcomes effectively, we’re not only strengthening regional workforce systems but also ensuring that investments in talent lead to meaningful economic mobility.”
