Greenville County School Board Approves Minimum $2,700 Pay Raise for Teachers
June 8, 2026Educators in Greenville County will see a notable boost in their paychecks for the upcoming school year. The Greenville County Schools Board of Trustees has officially approved its latest general fund budget, a move that guarantees local teachers will receive at least a $2,700 salary increase.
The targeted investment in the regional education workforce aims to combat inflation and ensure the district remains highly competitive in recruiting and retaining classroom talent.
Starting Salaries Set to Climb
Under the newly approved compensation plan, entry-level salaries for first-year teachers in Greenville County will officially begin at $54,606 annually.
The base pay hike reflects a conscious push by district leadership to elevate local compensation standards. In addition to the flat $2,700 market adjustment applied to every level of the teacher pay scale, all eligible educators will simultaneously receive an annual step increase based on their accrued years of classroom experience.
Strategic Financial Priorities
The salary adjustments are part of a broader fiscal effort managed from the J. Floyd Hall Administrative Center, where school board trustees finalized the spending plan. Notably, district officials successfully balanced the funding layout without imposing a millage tax increase on local residents.
Beyond base teacher compensation, the approved funding package sets aside targeted investments for wider school support roles. Non-teaching personnel will receive a general salary increase, the specialized scale for special education aides will be bumped up by an additional $2 per hour, and base pay rates for substitute teachers will be raised across the district to stabilize daily classroom coverage.
