Greenville Drive to be honored at Partner of the Year Luncheon

November 22, 2015

Public Education Partners (PEP), the leading non-profit supporter of high-quality public education in Greenville, is once again recognizing a remarkable business for its outstanding impact on our public schools.

At the 6th annual PEP Partner of the Year Luncheon, to be held at the TD Convention Center November 23, the Greenville Drive will be honored for its commitment to advancing student achievement and accelerating reading success for our students.

“We are honored to be recognized by PEP as its 2015 Partner of the Year, joining such distinguished education champions as Michelin, Fluor, Greenville Health System, GE and BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina as recipients of this award,” Drive Owner and President Craig Brown said.

The Drive owners, staff and players are steadfast in their commitment to ensuring all students have opportunities for success. Their actions, from financial support to volunteering, have benefitted countless students in the Upstate. The Drive’s Reading All-Stars program, sponsored by Michelin, has seen more than 60,000 students qualify since its inception in 2008.

“The Drive has been an invaluable partner in helping PEP continue our mission of supporting and strengthening student achievement in Greenville County Schools,” PEP’s Board Chair Neil

Grayson said. “Their values of engaging and championing our students and schools mirrors PEP’s mission, and we look forward to many more years of partnering with the Drive.”

The Partner of the Year event will also feature thoughts from keynote speaker Mary Anne Schmitt-Carey, President of Say Yes to Education. Schmitt-Carey will be sharing “It’s the Drive that Matters,” a reflection on what it takes for a community to rally around ambitious goals for all its students, including college access for all its students.

Say Yes to Education works to bring communities together to increase high school and college graduation rates. Say Yes offers a wide range of support services to at-risk, economically disadvantaged youths and families as well as pledging full scholarships for a college or vocational education to children living in poverty. Say Yes currently has community-wide partnerships in Buffalo and Syracuse, NY and Guilford County, NC.

Tickets to the Partner of the Year Luncheon are $25 and can be purchased by visiting the Public Education Partners website: www.pepgc.org.
