Greenville HR Professionals Honored by Peers

GREENVILLE, SC – January 10, 2012 – The Greenville Society for Human Resource Management (GSHRM) recently presented its two highest awards to two members. Donnie Brown, Vice President of Human Resources at Tindall Corp. in Spartanburg, was named 2011 HR Professional of the Year, which recognizes excellence in the human resources profession as a practitioner.  Lynn Gibbs, Executive Director of Human Resources at Greenville County Schools, was the recipient of the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognizes extended achievement in the HR profession over the course of a career.  

A member of GSHRM for more than 15 years, Brown currently holds the position of 2012 President Elect of the GSHRM board of directors. He also heads up the organization’s strategic planning committee, a role in which he also served last year.  Brown has more than 37 years of HR experience and has been with Tindall Corporation since 2000. In 2007, Brown was honored by Tindall Corporation and the  South Carolina state Chamber of Commerce and the SC State SHRM Council in recognition of outstanding performance in the field of human resources.  Brown is also a Senior Professional in Human Resources with Life Certification. 

Gibbs has more than 30 years of HR experience, the past four and a half years with the Greenville County School District and for 26 years with Fiberweb, a global producer of specialty industry materials. Over the course of her career, Gibbs has been involved in every aspect of the human resources profession and one of her former colleagues at Fiberweb said she has “an amazing amount of energy and an incredible attention to detail. She was one of the absolute foundations of the Fiberweb (sic) HR group in America.”
