January 24, 2023

The Greenville Jewish Film Festival announces its lineup of films for its 3rd annual SpringFest event – March 9, 11 and 12 – at the Greenville ONE Center in downtown Greenville.

Dead Sea Guardians
Thursday March 9, 6:00pm

The festival will kick off with “Dead Sea Guardians” which tells the story of an iconic body of water shared by Israelis, Jordanians, and Palestinians. The Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth and one of the wonders of the world, is known for its exceptional geographic, biological, and historical value. Tragically, the Dead Sea is dying. Three historic enemies join forces on a heroic journey to stop this catastrophe and save the Dead Sea from disappearing.

Moos
Saturday, March 11, 6:45pm

“Moos” (rhymes with nose) is an enjoyable and endearing comedy about life, love and family that reaches across cultural lines. Our young heroine pins all her hopes on getting into Amsterdam’s leading drama college, but she is a complete flop at her audition and ends up taking a job in the cafeteria instead. Things get even more complicated when her dishy childhood friend, Sam, returns from Israel, announcing that he has broken up with his girlfriend. Delightful and funny from start to finish. Dutch with English subtitles.

Doors Open:  6:45pm
Reception:  7:00 – 8:00pm – Hors D’oeuvres/Cash Bar
Movie:  8:00 – 9:30pm

Presenting Sponsor:  The Breakthrough Coach

The 90 Minute War
Sunday, March 12, 4:00pm

“The 90 Minute War” is a brilliant new mockumentary that attempts to settle the Israeli-Palestinian conflict via a football (soccer) match. After long decades of futile and deadly attempts to settle the conflict, there is only one solution left. Based on a successful Israeli novel of the same name, it is a thought-provoking take on the conflict, and an ingenious plan for a resolution.  Immediately following the movie, we will have a brief discussion about conflict resolution.

Doors Open:  4:00pm
Movie:  4:30 – 6:00pm followed by a moderated discussion on Conflict Resolution
Reception:  6:00 – 7:00pm – Hors D’oeuvres/Cash Bar

The Greenville Jewish Film Festival seeks to strengthen the Upstate through film by entertaining, educating, inspiring, and highlighting the diversity and, perhaps most importantly, the commonality within our community. The collection of films chosen for the 2023 Festival explores what it means to be human, to interact with not only our physical world (Dead Sea Guardians), but also to understand our personal internal journeys (Moos), and to recognize our differences while still finding ways to live together (The 90 Minute War).

The Greenville Jewish Film Festival is grateful to our presenting sponsors.
