Get First Pick at the 25th Annual Kick-Off Party
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale, one of Greenville’s favorite annual community events and a vital fundraiser supporting adult literacy programs throughout Greenville County.
Greenville Literacy Association invites the community to celebrate this milestone at the exclusive Kick-Off Party, presented by the Greenville Drive. A valued GLA partner since 2019, the Greenville Drive has partnered with GLA to provide English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction for its international baseball players, reflecting a shared commitment to education, opportunity, and community.
The ticketed Kick-Off Party will take place Thursday, August 6, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at McAlister Square. Guests will receive exclusive early access to thousands of books, puzzles, games, vinyl records, and other treasures before the public sale begins while enjoying complimentary light food and beverages.
Kick-Off Party tickets are $60 per person or $110 per couple. Tickets are limited and expected to sell quickly. The celebration continues with General Admission to the Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale on Saturday, August 8, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Sunday, August 9, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Every ticket purchased and every book sold supports GLA’s mission of empowering adults to improve their literacy skills, earn a GED, learn English, prepare for careers, and build brighter futures for themselves, their families, and our community.
Children ages 3 and under are admitted free to the Kick-Off Party. Tickets are required for all guests ages 4 and older.

“At Greenville Literacy Association, education opens doors,” said Victoria Novak, Executive Director of Greenville Literacy Association. “Whether someone wants to learn English, earn a GED, launch a business, or simply support our mission by attending the Kick-Off Party, every opportunity helps strengthen individuals, families, and our community.”
In Greenville County alone, it is estimated that nearly 40,000 adults ages 25-64 lack a high school diploma and more than 20,000 adults cannot speak English fluently.
