Greenville Little Theatre awarded $42,208 by Greenville Women Giving

May 23, 2016

GREENVILLE, SC – On May 16, 2016, Greenville Women Giving held its Tenth Anniversary Celebration to award its 2016 grantees.  Greenville Little Theatre was awarded $42,208 to upgrade antiquated lighting by purchasing and installing new state-of-the-art “intelligent” LED lighting equipment of the same caliber used on Broadway.

“Greenville Women Giving is having a major impact on our community, and we thank them for helping this cultural icon, Greenville Little Theatre,” says Allen McCalla, GLT Executive Artistic Director.

As the Upstate’s oldest and largest producing theatre, established in 1926, Greenville Little Theatre has been a powerful impact on our community’s artistic climate and will entertain over 60,000 audience members this season.  With many of the current lighting instruments 15 years past their life expectancy, this grant will help provide for the purchase of 6 moving lights, 4 strip lights, 2 spotlights, and  22 Source Four LEDs, revolutionizing GLT’s lighting system and resulting in greener functioning.  This vital renovation will allow GLT to continue sharing the magic of live theatre for many seasons to come.

Celebrating its 90th Anniversary this season, Greenville Little Theatre’s future certainly is bright thanks to the continued support of community partners, such as Greenville Women Giving.  Please give a round of applause for Greenville Women Giving and their continued investment in our community and the arts.  For more information about the upcoming 2016-17 Season at GLT, visit www.greenvillelittletheatre.org or call (864) 233-6238.
