Greenville Technical College celebrates graduates at Commencement
May 2, 2025
Commencement for Greenville Technical College graduates was held at the Greenville Convention Center on Friday, May 2. Included were 311 participants, 11 military veterans, 121 graduates with a GPA of 3.4 or higher, and 14 graduates with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Additional students graduated but did not participate in the ceremony with 1,244 awards projected this semester and an expected 1,101 unduplicated graduates.
Two students were honored for academics and community service at Commencement with President’s Awards.
Enrolling in 2021, President’s Award recipient Savannah Lee has earned degrees in both Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene, maintaining a GPA of 3.92 and earning a 4.0 in 10 of her 12 semesters. She has served on the GTC Dental Programs Advisory Board, as vice president for the GTC chapter of the Student American Dental Hygienists’ Association (SADHA), and as the voice for all dental hygiene students in South Carolina as the state’s SADHA representative. Beyond her own academic achievements, Savannah has actively contributed to the success of others, serving as a work-study tutor for the Dental Assisting program over five semesters. Savannah’s professionalism, empathy, and excellent patient care make her not only a student who will be greatly missed upon graduation, but a future dental professional who will make a lasting impact.
President’s Award recipient Madison Grace Wise, an associate in arts/marketing major, has distinguished herself as an all-star student with a cumulative GPA of 3.91, membership in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and involvement in the Student Entrepreneurship and Investment clubs. She has made it look easy, when in fact, her path was anything but. A first-generation college graduate, she has overcome tragedy on the road to earning a degree as she lost several family members and spent an unsettled childhood living with various relatives. She began her studies at one technical college, later attended another, and finally transferred to Greenville Technical College (GTC) in 2023. At GTC, her sheer grit and resolve panned out as she worked several jobs to support herself while making the time to volunteer to help others. Madison plans to transfer to a four-year university and pursue a career in pharmaceutical sales, goals she will no doubt reach thanks to the determination that has marked her educational journey so far.
